Parliament Management Commission

About the Commission

The Parliament Management Commission (PMC) was established in 2021 with a constitutional amendment to the legislature, in effect making the Parliament a semi-autonomous branch of Government. The constitutional amendment also renamed the Legislative Assembly to the Parliament of the Cayman Islands, “MLAs” to “MPs”, and renamed laws to “Acts”.

The Parliament Management Act was passed on the 30th October 2020, which put the management of the Parliament’s administration and affairs into the hands of the Commission rather than being managed as a Government Portfolio. The Clerk of the Parliament is now also a dual-role as the Chief Officer of the Parliament.

The Commission is responsible for the administration and management of the Parliament, including carrying out the budgetary responsibilities relating to the Parliament, managing staff and operations, and providing resources to Members among other responsibilities.
