Committees

Committees

Committees can be either Standing Committees or Select Committees. Section 71 of the Cayman Islands Constitution Order (2009) establishes Standing Committees, including the Finance Committee, and grants Standing Committees the powers to summon Government officials to answer questions and provide information about the conduct of business of the Government or the unit in question. Further provisions are granted in Section 87 of the Constitution for the Standing Public Accounts Committee.

Select Committees can be established by the House pursuant to Section 70 of the Parliament Standing Orders in order to consider and report on a Bill.
