Hon. Rutty was sworn-in as Deputy Premier of the Cayman Islands in May, 2025, following the general election when he ran as a Cayman Islands National Party (CINP) candidate.
With over 35 years of business experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries, the Honourable Rutty has developed a comprehensive understanding of the local economy and the challenges faced by businesses and families. His entrepreneurial journey has equipped him with the skills to create job opportunities and support the careers of young Caymanians, ensuring that the next generation has the resources they need to thrive.
Hon. Rutty’s public service includes roles on the Work Permit Board, the Central Tenders Committee, and as a past Director of the Cayman Islands Merchant Association. His experience has prepared him to address key issues such as the cost of living, immigration, and economic development.
A committed advocate for youth and community development, Hon. Rutty leverages his businesses to support Cayman’s children through sponsorships, sports programmes, and scholarships. He was a founding member of the YMCA of the Cayman Islands and actively participates in youth initiatives like Elite FC, Flag Football League and Little League.
Hon. Rutty believes that the Cayman Islands need dedicated statesmen rather than career politicians. He feels a profound responsibility to contribute to the nation that has supported his family for generations. His life’s work reflects a steadfast dedication to building a stronger Cayman Islands for future generations.
