Biography:

Education: Earned a Bachelors of Science – Law Enforcement and Police Science – 1985 from Sam Houston State University, Texas. Attended the Cayman Islands Law School and obtained a Bachelors of Law (LLB) – Liverpool University – 1995 and the Professional Practice Course (PPC) – Belfast University – 1996.

 

Career (Brief Summary): Served in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service from 1986 to 1990. Commenced law school in 1990 and was articled to the Cayman Islands Courts. Was appointed as a Deputy Clerk of Counts in 1997 until 1998.  Was then employed as an attorney at law at Appleby Law Firm – Litigation Office from 1998 until 2009. Took up the post of Clerk of the Legislative Assembly in August 2009. In January 2021 became Clerk of the Parliament and Chief Officer of the Parliament Management Commission. Was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre from 2003 until 2023 and a Board Member of the Cayman Islands Civil Service Credit Union for 18 years.                       

Mrs. Merren-Chin has participated in a number of CPA Conferences and Seminars from 2010 to the present.
