Overview

The Standing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, 23rd January 2025, in order to examine the Auditor General’s performance audit report, “The Government’s Approach to Sustainable Economic Development”, published in November 2024.

Senior public servants from the Ministry of Finance & Economic Development, and the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, will attend as witnesses during the afternoon session.

This report, which is available on the Auditor General’s website, evaluates the government’s strategies and initiatives for fostering sustainable economic growth. It identifies successes as well as opportunities for improvement to support long-term economic stability and development.

In its upcoming hearing, the Members of the PAC will question the witnesses on the contents of the Auditor General’s report in accordance with Parliament Standing Order 77(4), and Section 87(1) of the Cayman Islands Constitution Order 2009, legislation that empowers the PAC with the responsibility to examine all authorities and Government-owned companies.

Following the hearing, the PAC will prepare its own report to accompany the Auditor General’s report in accordance with Standing Orders. The Committee may make additional recommendations to the Government pursuant to Standing Order 77(5).
